This Sunday, August 28, will be our last Sunday collecting fans for the FaithWorks Fan Drive. If you have not already contributed to the Fan Drive do so this weekend. Fans donated will be given to needy families in the Covington/Newton County area to help during the hot summer months.
Fans to be new and still in their box. Wal-Mart has simple box fans for less than $12.00. Thank you for your donation. For more information, call Father Randall at 678-371-6498.

Director Bob Furnad reported yesterday in an email to FaithWorks Members and Friends that the Wal-Mart regional manager has ordered each of his nine stores to provide a pallet of fans to FaithWorks…50 fans per pallet for a total of 450 fans. Pastor Judy Sutton of Church at Covington was instrumental in helping to solicit this vital contribution. God is good!
Area churches are encouraged to continue collecting fans as the need this summer is great. For more information on how to donate fans through St. Andrew’s Church contact us at 770-784-5100 or you may contact Fr. Randall directly at 678-371-6498.

As mentioned in an earlier post, FaithWorks is collecting fans to distribute to needy families. In an email sent out to supporting churches yesterday, Director Bob Furnad reported that within the last ten day 123 fans were donated. He further reports that all the fans were distributed within the first hour of opening!
St. Andrew’s is continuing to collect fan donations. If you would like to donate a fan to this worthy cause, please contact our office at 770-784-5100 or you may drop them off on Sundays after morning worship.
FaithWorks is an area benevolence ministry supported by area churches.

On Mother’s Day this past month, St. Andrew’s joined with other area churches in the Refuge Crisis Pregnancy Center’s Annual Baby Bottle Campaign. The purpose of the campaign is for congregants to take home baby bottles and fill them with change to donate to the Center.
This Sunday, Father’s Day, the campaign will end. Everyone who has a bottle or bottles is requested to turn their bottles in on Sunday. We will then count and turn the proceeds over to the Refuge Crisis Pregnancy Center for them to use in their most important work.
I want to thank everyone for their enthusiastic support for this endeavor. We are proud to support the Refuge Crisis Pregnancy Center as they minister young women and babies and work to put an end to scourge of abortion.
If you are not part of St. Andrew’s Parish and would like to donate to the Refuge Crisis Pregnancy Center you may do so by sending your gift to: Refuge Crisis Pregnancy Center, 1307 Milstead Ave., Conyers, GA 30012.

Did you know there are families in our community that have NO air conditioning. Yes, none. You would be surprised how many families face this hot summer with nothing to keep them cool. FaithWorks, a ministry supported by this church that helps families in financial crisis with rent and utility assistance, is collecting fans to be given to those families. Other households that do have air conditioning use the fans to enable them to turn the thermostat higher to save on their electric bill while keeping a bit cooler. Last year, FaithWorks churches gathered over 400 fans. If you can buy a box fan and bring it to church, we’ll see that FaithWorks gets it to a needy family.

In addition to our regular Sunday Eucharist which begins at 10:30 AM, St. Andrew’s offers a second eucharistic service of worship on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM. Lasting about 30 minutes, the service is typically shorter but may run longer as the Holy Spirit directs. The purpose of our Wednesday Eucharist is to allow persons who were unable to attend on Sunday an opportunity to receive the Eucharist as well as for visitors who wish to receive. Some persons, due to work, are unable to attend on Sundays and this provides an opportunity for them they otherwise would not have. However, this service is not limited to those who are unable to attend on Sunday alone but is for anyone who would like to join us in worship.
If you are unable to attend on Sunday please take advantage of this service of worship. If you need prayer or ministry, I or one of our other clergy are here to serve. If you just would like to be in worship again on Wednesday, come and join us.

This Sunday, May 18th, we will end our Easter study of the Seven Sacraments with a talk on the Sacrament of Holy Orders. On May 25th, we will begin our Pentecost study on Life in the Spirit.
The Via Salutis Course is a parish wide study that began in Epiphany with a study of God’s Saving Deeds in History (Salvation History) and in Lent with a study of the Life of Holiness (Virtues). Easter was dedicated to a study of the Mystagogy (Seven Sacraments). Our study of the Life in the Spirit during Pentecost will conclude our series for this year.
The Via Salutis Course has also served to prepare those individuals seeking to be confirmed or received as part of St. Andrew’s Church and the Charismatic Episcopal Communion. A service of Confirmation/Reception is scheduled for Sunday, June 29th.
Below is the outline and schedule of our upcoming study:
-
May 25 - The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
-
June 1 - The Fruits the Holy Spirit
-
June 8 - The Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Sunday Sermon: How to Receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit)
-
June 15 - The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Warfare
-
June 22 - The Work of the Ministry I – Sharing Your Faith/Working Together
-
June 29 - The Work of the Ministry II – Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts (Service of Confirmation and Reception!)
-
July 13 - The Work of the Ministry III – Answering the Call
All St. Andrew’s parishoners are encouraged to continue in their faithful participation to this study. Visitors and inquirers are joyfully welcome!
