Saturday, May 30th, has been set aside as “a day of prayer and fasting” for the congregation of St. Andrew’s Church.  The congregation has committed herself to fasting and praying for one another, the ministry of the church, and their community.   As this is the day before Pentecost Sunday, we are also coming together in prayer to ask for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives and ministry.

From time to time, the congregation of St. Andrew’s sets aside days of corporate prayer and fasting.  Typically the church is made available to all who would like to come and spend time before the altar in prayer with prayer services are scheduled throughout the day.  Prayer services for tomorrow will begin at 6:00 am with services following at 9:00 am, 12 noon, 3:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 9:00 pm.  All are welcome.

St. Andrew’s Easter Baptismal Service

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14

This Sunday at St. Andrew’s, the Rev’d Canon Lem Anderson will be our speaker for this Sunday’s sermon.  If you have never heard Canon Anderson speak, you will be delighted to do so as he always brings refreshing word delivered with gentleness and grace.

Easter Sunday, St. Andrew’s Church in Covington was privileged to celebrate the baptism of Clarence Johnson and his baby son, James Andrew.  Clarence’s wife, Elese, a confirmed member of St. Andrew’s, had previously scheduled to have their baby baptized on Easter Sunday.  But it was while Father Randall Allen was going over the baptismal service with both Clarence and Elese that the Lord began to move upon Clarence’s heart.  After some sharing and discussion, Father Randall asked Clarence if he would like to pray to receive Christ into his life.  Without hesitation, Clarence responded, “Yes.”

Having prayed and received Christ into his life, Clarence requested to be baptized with his son.  On Sunday morning, in front of an excited crowd of friends, family and Easter Sunday visitors, Clarence and his son, James Andrew, received the rite of baptism and were “marked as Christ’s own forever!” 

Alleluia, Christ is risen!  The Lord is risen, indeed!

James Andrew, born last September, was given his middle name, Andrew, in honor of the love and care shown to Elese and her family by the congregation of St. Andrew’s.
